This time of year presents a wonderful opportunity for introspection and self-assessment. Taking a look back at the year and observing the victories and areas for improvement creates a path forward for personal growth in the upcoming year. This is not only true for individual leaders but for leadership teams as a whole.
Earlier this year, the senior leadership team that I lead here at HighView Church, composed of our elder council and pastoral staff, started asking the question: “How can we gauge the health of our leadership culture as a church?”
From that conversation, we created a “Church Health Leadership Audit”, composed of 10 elements found in a healthy church leadership culture. Then, each leader scored our culture on a scale of 1-10 and then we discussed the results. Feel free to download the PDF here.
Get a group of leaders together in your church and allow them to fill out and score the audit honestly. Average the scores from the individual sections (1-10) and this will be your overall score. Our Senior Leadership team took the lowest two area scores and created action items to address them.
Scoring Guide:
8-10: Exceptionally Healthy
6-7: Healthy
4-5: Average Health
0-4: Poor Health
