In our fast-paced world, it’s easy to overlook the small, seemingly insignificant moments that make up the majority of our days. Yet, if we desire the Kingdom of God to come, we must be willing to sow the seeds of the Gospel in these tiny, everyday interactions.

The Daily Drive: A Missed Opportunity

Each morning, I take my six-year-old daughter, Lydia, to school. This routine, though mundane, has become a precious time for us to have incredible Jesus-conversations. We talk about His character, His teachings, His grace and how we honor Him in our everyday lives. These moments are golden opportunities to plant the seeds of faith in her young heart.

On one of these rides a few weeks ago, I found myself distracted. My mind was preoccupied (irony of ironies!) with a sermon I was preparing, focused on the power of sowing small Kingdom seeds. It was then that the Lord gently convicted me using the very passage I was thinking about.

The Conviction: Recognizing the Small Moments

It dawned on me that in my quest to preach about the significance of small Kingdom seeds, I was missing out on the small moments where God often does His most profound work. These everyday interactions, though seemingly insignificant, are the fertile ground for the Gospel to take root and grow.

What I needed was a radical perspective shift, the kind that Jesus often gives us through His teachings. I needed to align my value system with His. Jesus reminds us not to despise the day of small things (Zechariah 4:10). Every moment, no matter how small, is an opportunity to reflect His love and share His message.

This experience challenged me to look at all the small moments in my life differently. Whether it’s a brief conversation with a coworker, a smile shared with a stranger, or a bedtime story with Lydia, these are all opportunities to sow seeds of the Gospel. The Kingdom of God often grows in the most unexpected places and through the most ordinary interactions.

Conclusion: The Power of Small Seeds

If we truly want the Kingdom to come, we must be willing to sow the seeds of the Gospel in the small and seemingly insignificant moments of life. These are the moments where God often does His most transformative work. By embracing these opportunities, we align our value system with Jesus’ and participate in the growth of His Kingdom.

So, the next time you’re driving your child to school, chatting with a neighbor, or simply going about your daily routine, remember: these small moments matter. They are the fertile ground for the Kingdom seeds that God wants to plant through you. Don’t miss them. Embrace them, and watch how God uses these tiny seeds to bring about His glorious Kingdom.
